**First-time pass rate is the number of students passing the USMLE Step 1 exam on the first attempt divided by the number of students whose first attempt was in 2019-2023. In order to sit for the USMLE Step 1 exam students must successfully complete the Medical Sciences curriculum.

AUC is guaranteeing* a limited number of Year 3 core clerkships in four of our core clinical hospital areas, including New York City area, Miami area, Detroit area, and the United Kingdom. This is an opportunity for aspiring students who would like to eventually practice in their home community.
*There is a limited number of guaranteed spots available at each site per term, and AUC cannot guarantee that all eligible students will be placed at the designated site in their home area. In addition to applying to AUC, being accepted, and paying the seat deposit before guaranteed clerkship seats are filled, students must meet all eligibility requirements listed below. AUC offers three start dates per year in January, May, and September. New seats will become available for each start. An applicant may have the option to choose a later start if spots have been filled.

COMPLETE A RMI FORM AND APPLICATON

You must complete a request for more information form in addition to submitting your AUC application to indicate your interest in the Clinical Return Home Offer. Your admissions coordinator will notify you when seats are filled in the term for which you are applying. You will also receive an email notifying of your status.

ELIGIBILITY

  • You must meet AUC’s admissions criteria and be directly admitted for an upcoming start date. 
  • Your application address must reside within a determined radius of a core hospital within said state, as listed in table. 
  • Applicants who reside in and around the greater Toronto and Windsor Canada metro areas may be eligible and considered for our Clinical Return Home offer at our Southfield, Michigan location. Applicants should communicate their interest to their admissions coordinator. 
  • United Kingdom hospitals do not have a radius—all interested new students are eligible to apply.
  • For New York and United Kingdom locations, hospital assignments will be determined at the time of clinical placement.

Applying to Caribbean medical schools is very similar to a U.S. medical school. At AUC, our Admissions team looks at a variety of factors when reviewing your application to medical school, including:

  • Academic achievement (GPA and MCAT score)
  • Course Requirements – The minimum prerequisite requirements are:
    • A bachelor's degree with a strong science background is preferred
    • Two semesters (8 credit hours) including labs for each of the following:
      • general biology
      • general chemistry
      • organic chemistry of biochemistry
    • One semester of general physics, calculus, or statistics
    • Medical Admissions Test
    • English Language Medical School Requirement
    • Educational and Employment History
    • Supporting Documents for Medical School
    • Transcripts

Are AUC students eligible to receive US federal direct student loans?

Yes! AUC students may qualify for federal student loans through the U.S. Department of Education.

Yes! Everyone has a story and many feel very connected to their home community even if they have since moved away. Tell your admissions officer of your interest.

What happens if a site terminates a contract with AUC?

If one of our affiliate sites terminates its contract with AUC, every effort will be made to place you at the closest geographical site.

Can I attend a UK clinical site if I’m originally from the United States?

Can I attend a UK clinical site if I’m originally from the United States?

Yes! Our UK clinical locations are open to anyone from anywhere. Although you may not call the United Kingdom home, we want you to feel comfortable experiencing different healthcare systems.

A waitlist will be established for applicants who wish to enroll in a term that has no remaining guaranteed clerkship seats; Existing students are ineligible for the waitlist.
