AUC offers comprehensive medical training designed to prepare aspiring physicians for practice in the United States, Canada, and beyond.
By submitting this form, I provide my signature, expressly consenting to calls, prerecorded messages, emails and/or texts regarding my educational options from American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC) and its affiliates and contractors using an automated dialing system to the number and email address provided. I understand my consent is not required to enroll at AUC, and that I can withdraw my consent at any time. To request information without consenting, please call 866-372-2282.
Students learn the basic sciences (termed Medical Sciences in AUC's curriculum) in Sint Maarten the on-island portion of medical training lasts for roughly half of your AUC education (72 weeks, less than two years). Dedicated faculty, many recruited from US institutions, teach a US-modeled basic sciences curriculum in highly advanced lecture halls and facilities in our high-tech, high-touch campus environment.
After completing basic sciences, you'll move on to clinical rotations in the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom at AUC-affiliated teaching hospitals. During this portion of the program, you'll serve as a member of a team comprised of students, residents, and attendings. You'll examine laboratory results, undertake certain procedures, perform histories and physicals, and more. Students proceed to residency placement after completing the clinical program.
There is no need to wait to hear back from a US or Canadian medical school.
Any student who is admitted to and enrolled in AUC for the first semester may be eligible for a full refund of the first-semester tuition if he or she is admitted to a United States-based or Canada-based allopathic medical school, or if that student is taken off the waitlist for that US or Canadian school and offered enrollment.
The starting semester for which the student is admitted to a United States-based or Canada-based allopathic medical school has not passed.
The student has supplied the AUC Office of Student Finance with proof that the student has been admitted to a United States-based or Canada-based allopathic medical school.
Such proof is in print or electronic copy of a formal admission letter on official university letterhead.
The student has not begun his or her second semester at AUC.
Under the terms of this policy, AUC will refund 100% of the first-semester tuition. All other fees and deposits will be subject to the policy terms noted in the Withdrawal Refund Schedule. Students who withdraw from AUC after the start of the second semester will be subject to the same refund policies noted in the Withdrawal Refund Schedule. Students who withdraw from AUC during their clinical rotations will be subject to any applicable late cancellation fees for the scheduled rotations.
During the first two years of your education, you'll complete exciting coursework that seamlessly integrates basic and clinical sciences. In addition to intensive study of subjects like anatomy, microbiology, and histology, you'll complete Introduction to Clinical Medicine (ICM), AUC's four-semester, case-based clinical skills course. In small groups and supported by faculty, you'll examine and interview standardized patients, document patient histories, hone exam skills through advanced simulation technology, and more.
For the remaining 72 weeks of your education, you'll complete core rotations, plus any elective rotations you select, at US or UK teaching hospitals.
"I believe that AUC students are educated with a broad problem-based background and learning structure that further prepares them to move the healthcare system forward. Students who choose to do their rotations, volunteer, or work overseas are further uniquely qualified to participate in discussions about the future of healthcare in the United States.""
