Scholarships for Prospective and Current students
AUC offers medical school scholarships recognizing academic excellence, volunteerism, and more. Available to those who apply and qualify. Scholarships are not transferable from institution to institution. Students may qualify for thousands of dollars’ worth of funds, and our scholarship committee reviews and awards scholarships every week.

Accepted students are automatically considered for certain scholarships; other scholarships require the student to complete an application. The scholarship committee will inform students if they are awarded a scholarship.

AUC offers medical school scholarships recognizing academic excellence, volunteerism, and more. Available to those who apply and qualify. Scholarships are not transferable from institution to institution.
Academic Merit Scholarship
This medical school scholarship has a lifetime value of $15,000 and is awarded to students who have a solid overall undergraduate GPA or MCAT score. This scholarship is automatically awarded to qualified, incoming first-semester AUC students only. (Note: Previously awarded amounts for current or accepted students will not change).
Eligibility Requirements
- Minimum undergraduate overall GPA of 3.00* or a minimum MCAT score of 490 (current version of the MCAT)
- Hold an offer of admission to AUC as a first-semester student
Award Details
- Allocation of scholarship money is spread out evenly between academic semesters 1–10 of the MD program, with a maximum lifetime value of $15,000.
- In the event the total tuition assessed is less than the scheduled semester award amount of all eligible scholarships, the total semester award is prorated to match the total tuition assessed for the term. This does not impact the lifetime maximum of the scholarship. Any remaining amount from the award would be carried forward until the lifetime maximum is met.
- If you qualify for more than one AUC new student scholarship, you must choose one.
- This scholarship is not transferable.

Dean's Academic Scholarship
This medical school scholarship has a lifetime value of $25,000 and is awarded to students who have a solid overall undergraduate GPA or MCAT score. This scholarship is automatically awarded to qualified, incoming first-semester AUC students only. (Note: Previously awarded amounts for current or accepted students will not change).
Eligibility Requirements
- Minimum undergraduate overall GPA of 3.50* or a minimum MCAT score of 505 (current version of the MCAT)
- Hold an offer of admission to AUC as a first-semester student
Award Details
- Allocation of scholarship money is spread out evenly between academic semesters 1–10 of the MD program, with a maximum lifetime value of $25,000.

Trustee's Academic Excellence Scholarship
This medical education scholarship has a lifetime value of $45,000 and is awarded to students who have a solid overall undergraduate GPA or MCAT score. This scholarship is automatically awarded to qualified, incoming first-semester AUC students only. (Note: Previously awarded amounts for current or accepted students will not change).
Eligibility Requirements
- Minimum undergraduate overall GPA of 3.70* or a minimum MCAT score of 510 (current version of the MCAT)
- Hold an offer of admission to AUC as a first-semester student

Medical Education Readiness Program (MERP) Grant
The MERP Grant is awarded to students who apply to the AUC MD program, receive conditional acceptance into Adtalem’s Medical Education Readiness Program (MERP), and enroll for the April 2024 MERP cohort. Eligible students will receive a one-time $9,500* USD tuition grant towards their MERP tuition.
Eligibility
- Awarded to enrolled students in the April 2024 MERP cohort.
- Students must apply through AUC or RUSM and be conditionally accepted to MERP.
- Students repeating MERP are eligible for the MERP Grant.
Additional details
- Under the MERP pricing structure, tuition is $9,500 USD and an estimated administrative fee is $4,000 USD. Students will continue to pay for the administrative fee ($4,000 USD) associated with the course.
- Students accepted into the MERP April 2024 cohort who receive the MERP Grant are not eligible for the MERP Tuition Back Guarantee Policy. Students who decide to exit the program, or do not receive a passing grade, will still receive the MERP Grant for tuition and are still responsible for paying the $4,000 administrative fee and any laptop devices, books and supplies incurred.
- Students who enroll in the April 2024 MERP cohort after February 14, 2024, are no longer eligible for the MERP Success Scholarship. Other scholarships may be awarded for those who are eligible and qualify.
- Students accepted into the MERP April 2024 cohort before February 14, 2024, may choose to accept the MERP Grant (which includes paying the required administrative fee) and may be eligible for the Medical Education Scholar Award should they meet eligibility requirements. Students who choose not to accept the MERP Grant, will be responsible for full tuition and fees, and may be eligible for the MERP Tuition Back Guarantee and any additional scholarships for which they meet eligibility requirements.

The purpose of MERP is to prepare enrollees to be successful medical students. Students accepted into this program will not be awarded any kind of degree or credential other than a certificate of completion.

MERP Success Scholarship
At AUC, our curricula and philosophy are rooted in collaboration and community—and so are those of MERP, the Medical Education Readiness Program. We believe that accessible medical care starts with equitable access to medical education. That’s why AUC is proud to offer our MERP Success Scholarship to incoming students who have successfully completed the MERP program.
Eligibility Requirements
- Completion of MERP with a 70% grade or higher
- Matriculation to AUC for the MD program
Award Details
- Scholarship awards ranging from a lifetime maximum value of $15,000 to $45,000
- Actual award amount determined by MERP grade (refer to Student Handbook for award amounts)
- Allocation of scholarship money to be spread out evenly between academic semesters 3–10 of the MD program

Mississippi College Scholarship
This $10,000 medical school scholarship—split over the first two semesters of the MD program at AUC—is awarded to qualified applicants who have graduated from Mississippi College’s Master of Science in Biology-Medical Sciences program.
Eligibility Requirements
- Graduate of Mississippi College’s MS in Biology-Medical Sciences program
- Minimum 3.0 GPA in at least three of the five medical courses outlined below in Mississippi College’s MS in Biology-Medical Sciences program:
- Human Gross Anatomy
- Medical Physiology
- Histology
- Human Neuroanatomy
- Human Embryology
- “Recommendation without reservation” letter from program director at Mississippi College’s MS in Biology-Medical Sciences program
- Hold an offer of admission to AUC
- Incoming students only
Award Details
- $5,000 will be awarded during each of the first two semesters of enrollment in the AUC MD program, with a maximum lifetime value of $10,000.

May 2024 Spring Forward Offer
The May 2024 Spring Forward Offer is a $20,000 USD grant offered to students accepted into the September 2024 semester of the MD program who may be interested in moving their start to the May 2024 semester.
There are a limited number of grants available. They will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis to students who meet the eligibility requirements and move their start to the May 2024 semester.
Eligibility Requirements
- To be eligible for this offer, students must have received acceptance into the September 2024 MD program and paid their seat deposit
- Students must meet eligibility requirements and request to take advantage of the offer by emailing admissions@aucmed.edu by April 12, 2024
- Students must be in the position to arrive in Sint Maarten no later than Thursday, May 2 to attend New Student Orientation on Thursday, May 3
- This offer is only eligible for new students accepted into the September 2024 semester of the MD program
- Medical Education Readiness Program (MERP) students advancing to AUC are ineligible.
Award Details
This $20,000 USD grant is applied toward the student’s tuition. It will be split evenly between the student’s first five semesters of the MD program. This offer is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to students who meet the eligibility requirements, move their start to the May 2024 semester, and apply for consideration by April 12, 2024.
Retention of all scholarships and grants requires students to maintain full time, continuous enrollment status and remain in good standing, as defined in AUC’s Student Handbook –Academic Policies and Procedures.
Medical Scholarship for Australia and New Zealand Citizens
This $80,000 USD scholarship is awarded to qualified applicants who are Australian or New Zealand citizens or permanent residents of those countries.
Eligibility Requirements
- Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent resident status
- Incoming first-semester students and eligible transfer students
- Hold an undergraduate degree (bachelor’s level)
- Hold an offer of admission to AUC
- If a transfer student is accepted, granted advanced standing, and scholarship eligible, that student’s maximum award amount is dependent on his/her semester of placement and the lifetime maximum award will be prorated.
Award Details
- $8,000 will be awarded during each of the first 10 semesters of enrollment of the MD program, with a maximum lifetime value of $80,000.
- In the event the total tuition assessed is less than the scheduled semester award amount of all eligible scholarships, the total semester award is prorated to match total tuition assessed for the term. This does not impact the lifetime maximum of the scholarship, any remaining amount from the award would be carried forward until the lifetime maximum is met.

Medical Scholarship for Canadian Citizens
This $80,000 USD scholarship is awarded to qualified applicants who are Canadian citizens. Dual citizens are not eligible.
Eligibility Requirements
- Canadian citizenship (Dual citizens are not eligible for the Canadian scholarship.)
- Incoming first-semester students and transfer students
- Hold an undergraduate degree (bachelor’s level)
- Hold an offer of admission to AUC
- If a transfer student is accepted, granted advanced standing, and scholarship eligible, that student’s maximum award amount is dependent on his/her semester of placement and the lifetime maximum award will be prorated.
Award Details*

International Scholarship
This $80,000 scholarship is awarded to applicants who are citizens or permanent residents of a country other than the United States, Canada, Australia or New Zealand.
Eligibility Requirements
- Citizens and permanent residents of countries other than the United States or Canada
- Students who hold dual U.S.-Canadian citizenship are not eligible for this scholarship.
- Incoming first-semester students and eligible transfer students
- Hold an undergraduate degree (bachelor’s level)
- Hold an offer of admission to AUC
- If a transfer student is accepted, granted advanced standing, and scholarship-eligible, that student’s maximum award amount is dependent on his/her semester of placement and the lifetime maximum value will be prorated.

Thompson Rivers University (TRU) Partner Scholarship
This one-time $7,500 scholarship is awarded to students who have graduated from Thompson Rivers University (TRU) within the previous five years.

- Students must have graduated from TRU within the past five years
- Hold an offer of admission to AUC as a first-semester student

- The $7,500 scholarship is awarded for the first semester of enrollment at AUC.
- This scholarship is not transferable.
AUC/Sint Maarten Partnership Scholarship
This full tuition and administrative fees scholarship is awarded to qualified applicants who are citizens or permanent residents of Sint Maarten. Up to four of these medical school scholarships can be awarded per academic year and are awarded in the order of the applicant’s acceptance to AUC.
Eligibility Requirements
- Citizens or permanent residents of the country of St. Maarten
- Incoming first-semester students and eligible transfer students
- Hold an undergraduate degree (bachelor’s level)
- Hold an offer of admission to AUC
- If a transfer student is accepted, granted advanced standing, and scholarship-eligible, that student’s maximum award amount is dependent on his/her semester of placement and the lifetime maximum award will be prorated.
Award Details
- This scholarship covers all tuition and administrative fees costs, so long as the recipients maintain satisfactory grades throughout their enrollment at AUC.
- In the event the total tuition assessed is less than the scheduled semester award amount of all eligible scholarships, the total semester award is prorated to match total tuition assessed for the term. This does not impact the lifetime maximum of the scholarship, any remaining amount from the award would be carried forward until the lifetime maximum is met.

How to Qualify
This scholarship will be awarded to qualified applicants during the enrollment process, after submission of a completed application to AUC. The university will send scholarship applications to eligible individuals.
The Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, Dubai (BITS) Partner Scholarship
This one-time $7,500 scholarship is awarded to students who have graduated from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, Dubai (BITS) within the previous five years.
Eligibility Requirements
- Students must have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from BITS within the past five years
- A minimum overall cumulative and science GPA of 2.8 or higher
- A GPA of 2.8 or higher in all AUC pre-requisite courses
- Hold an offer of admissions to AUC as a first semester student
Award details
- The $7,500 USD scholarship is awarded for the first semester of enrollment at AUC
- U.K. Track students receive a one-time first-semester housing credit of $2,000 USD to their student account
- Sint Maarten campus students receive a one-time first-semester on-campus housing grant up to $4,750 USD for a double-occupancy unit

Wilfred Laurier University (WLU) Partner Scholarship
This one-time $7,500 scholarship is awarded to students who have graduated from Wilfred Laurier University (WLU) within the previous five years.

- Students must have graduated from WLU within the last five 5 years
- Hold an offer of admission to AUC as a first-semester student

Scholarships for Current Students
AUC offers scholarship awards for students currently enrolled in the medical sciences program. These scholarships were designed to assist students with funding for medical school while also recognizing attributes that are central to the AUC mission and culture. Available to those who apply and qualify.
Social Accountability Award
The AUC Social Accountability Award recognizes students who have made contributions to the communities of St. Maarten during their medical sciences education.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a currently enrolled first-, second-, third-, fourth-, or fifth-semester student (U.K. track students are not eligible).
- Complete the award application.
- Personal essay describing contributions you have made to the communities of Sint Maarten, what you have learned about the community and yourself through community engagement, how the experiences have contributed to your personal and professional development, and your plan for continued engagement during your enrollment at AUC.

- $5,000 one-time award toward tuition (applied the following semester)

Student Engagement Award
The AUC Student Engagement Award recognizes students whose activities as part of the campus community have helped to enhance and foster the AUC culture of collaboration.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a currently enrolled first-, second-, third-, fourth-, or fifth-semester student (U.K. track students are not eligible.)
- Complete the award application
- Personal essay describing your involvement with the AUC campus community, including contributions to campus leadership, how your engagement with the campus community has supported your development and your peers’ development as future physicians, and your plan for continued engagement during your enrollment at AUC.
Award Details
- $5,000 one-time award toward tuition (applied the following semester)
- This scholarship is not transferable.
