FIRST-SEMESTER TUITION BACK GUARANTEE

AUC is confident in our students and their ability to successfully transition to the rigorous demands of medical school. We believe in you and your ability to succeed so much so that we’re willing to refund your first-semester tuition if you don’t pass.

New, first-time matriculating MD students who complete semester 1, including final exams, and do not advance to semester 2 because they earned a failing grade in a semester 1 courses/modules required for advancement are eligible for the guarantee. Students eligible for the guarantee receive a reimbursement of tuition based on the following formula: tuition assessed minus institutional scholarships or grants received. Please note, only tuition is included in this guarantee, any fees and other expenses and/or charges are excluded.

REMOTE LEARNING OPTION

While we will continue to deliver our program in person on island in the September 2022 semester, we are excited to announce we are offering a remote option for first-time first-semester students for their first term only* to give them flexibility in learning options to start their medical education. AUC is committed to providing medical students choosing to start online with the same knowledge and expertise that their classmates in Sint Maarten will receive.

*The September 2022 semester remote option for new, first-time first semester students is contingent on the U.S. COVID-19 national emergency declaration and federal allowances. If the national emergency declaration and federal allowances are terminated prior to the end of the September 2022 semester, you will be required to attend on island. The remote option is not offered to continuing students (semesters 2-5) or students repeating the first semester.

What Sets Us Apart?

40+ Year Legacy of Medical Education

Since 1978, AUC School of Medicine has been a leading provider of international medical education, making us one of the most established international medical schools in the Caribbean. Our alumni network now exceeds 7,500 graduates.

Accredited Institution

AUC School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM). Our accreditation standards have been deemed comparable to U.S. medical school requirements by the U.S. Department of Education via the National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation (NCFMEA), who reviews the standards that countries use to accredit medical schools. The NCFMEA has determined that the ACCM’s accreditation standards are comparable to those set by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), which accredits medical education programs in the United States.

Global Clinical Network

Experience a vast array of clinical training opportunities while rotating at one or more of our 23 affiliated hospital sites. AUC students see a diverse mix of patients across a variety of clinical settings and gain a better understanding of global health care.

Where can I practice medicine as an AUC graduate?

You'll be eligible for licensure to practice in all 50 US states, Canada, and beyond.

Are AUC students eligible for financial aid?

U.S. students can apply for financial aid from the U.S. Department of Education’s William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program. Qualified students can borrow up to the entire cost of attendance (which includes tuition, books and supplies, accommodation, and travel).

Are there scholarships available?

AUC is proud to have awarded more than $40.4 million USD in scholarships since 2009. We offer a variety of merit-based scholarships that reward academic achievement, recognize community volunteerism, and more, for those who qualify.

How selective is AUC's admissions process?

At AUC, we have rigorous standards when considering applicants. Yes, we look at the whole person—we want to know about one's life experience, volunteerism, maturity, and commitment—but we also look closely at how a candidate performed academically as an undergraduate and their MCAT score.
Throughout the pandemic, AUC’s plans have been guided by two principles: protecting the health and safety of our community during an evolving pandemic and supporting our students’ goals to become globally-minded and socially-accountable physicians. This has allowed us to safely manage medical education on our campus since January 2021. We are committed to providing a safe and meaningful experience, and we will continue to evaluate and modify COVID-19 safety protocols as needed while keeping your health and safety our priority.
