ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
AWARD DETAILS
$8,000 will be awarded during each of the first 10 semesters of enrollment of the MD program, with a maximum lifetime value of $80,000.
In the event the total tuition assessed is less than the scheduled semester award amount of all eligible scholarships, the total semester award is prorated to match total tuition assessed for the term. This does not impact the lifetime maximum of the scholarship, any remaining amount from the award would be carried forward until the lifetime maximum is met.
Previous Canadian Scholarship recipients should refer to their original award letter for award amounts.
AUC is confident in our students and their ability to successfully transition to the rigorous demands of medical school. We believe in you and your ability to succeed so much so that we’re willing to refund your first-semester tuition if you don’t pass.
New, first-time matriculating MD students who complete semester 1, including final exams, and do not advance to semester 2 because they earned a failing grade in a semester 1 courses/modules required for advancement are eligible for the guarantee. Students eligible for the guarantee receive a reimbursement of tuition based on the following formula: tuition assessed minus institutional scholarships or grants received. Please note, only tuition is included in this guarantee, any fees and other expenses and/or charges are excluded.
There is no need to wait to hear back from a US or Canadian medical school.
Any student who is admitted to and enrolled in AUC for the first semester may be eligible for a full refund of the first-semester tuition if he or she is admitted to a United States-based or Canada-based allopathic medical school, or if that student is taken off the waitlist for that US or Canadian school and offered enrollment.
Under the terms of this policy, AUC will refund 100% of the first-semester tuition. All other fees and deposits will be subject to the policy terms noted in the Withdrawal Refund Schedule. Students who withdraw from AUC after the start of the second semester will be subject to the same refund policies noted in the Withdrawal Refund Schedule. Students who withdraw from AUC during their clinical rotations will be subject to any applicable late cancellation fees for the scheduled rotations.
Scholarships are available to you as an incoming first-semester student — including the Canadian Scholarship, a renewable award that maxes out at $80,000 USD. Available to those who apply and qualify.

Our accreditation standards have been deemed comparable to U.S. medical school requirements by the U.S. Department of Education via the National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation (NCFMEA), who reviews the standards that countries use to accredit medical schools. The NCFMEA has determined that the ACCM’s accreditation standards are comparable to those set by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), which accredits medical education programs in the United States.

AUC is proud to have awarded more than $40.4 million USD in scholarships since 2009. Scholarships are available to those who apply and qualify.
At AUC, we have rigorous standards when considering applicants. Yes, we look at the whole person—we want to know about one’s life experience, volunteerism, maturity, and commitment—but we also look closely at how a candidate performed academically as an
undergraduate and their MCAT score.
If you are accepted, for a legal extended stay in Sint Maarten, you must have your passport stamped with the appropriate student visa from the Sint Maarten government. The government of Sint Maarten, with AUC’s support to facilitate the internal coordination process, will process the student visa prior to the tourist visa stamp expiration date in your passport (from when you first arrived in Sint Maarten). When you arrive in Sint Maarten, you will need to present your passport. You must show proof of a return date ticket.
Our campus in Cupecoy, St. Maarten—where most students in the four-year MD program complete their first two years of academic study—provides medical students with a modern learning environment equipped with powerful technological and academic resources.
American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC) has partnered with the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) to offer two distinct points of entry to enable non-US citizen students to earn an AUC medical degree, with at least part of their education in the United Kingdom (UK).
"AUC does everything they possibly can to help you achieve your goals. It’s obvious that the faculty really care and want you to do well, and AUC is a great community to be a part of."
